Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a simple mechanism for adding style (e.g. fonts, colors, spacing) to Web documents.
A CSS-based design allows the designer to separate the content from the design and to create a site with much less code than a site with an identical look that has been designed with tables.
Design that primarily uses CSS to control the layout has several advantages: faster downloads, easy access of search engines to the true content of a page (higher search engine rankings), easy to modify, more accessibility across various browsers.
